Just because it is getting colder outside does not mean we have to stop playing out doors. Read on to discover some simple and easy ways to play as a family this winter.
Indoor Treasure Hunt: Create a thrilling treasure hunt throughout your house. Hide clues and small surprises to keep everyone engaged and entertained. Such a great way ti play for all members of the family.
Family Game Night: Gather around the table with a classic board game or card game. Board games are such a great opportunity to include some reading, and number skills without really thinking about it.
Kitchen Adventures: Getting into the kitchen together as a family may cause some chaos and mess however there are so many fun things we can do. Bake and then decorate cookies or even cook some pasta starting from scratch.
Indoor Camping: Pitch a tent in your living room, complete with sleeping bags and flashlights. Share stories, play games or watch a movie.
Family Reading Time: Set aside some time for reading. Either reading together or reading your own books it is a great time to snuggle in front of the fire and enjoy the indoors if it is raining outside. There are also so many activities that we could then go on to do after we have read some classic picture story books.
Treasure Hunt in Nature: Explore local parks or nature trails on a treasure hunt. Create a list of items for each family member to find, such as leaves, flowers, rocks and clouds.
Movie Marathon under the Blankets: Transform your living room into a cozy home theater. Gather blankets, pillows, and snacks, and enjoy a movie marathon together.
Visit the local library: Check out any activities that may be on offer or just borrow some new books and movies.
Football time: Rug up and head to a game of football to cheer on your team.
Pyjama Day: No one is allowed to get dressed for the whole day! Don’t leave the house, stay in doors read a book, watch some movies and chill out.
Build a Family scrap book: Print some photos of a recent or loved family holiday/ adventure and create a scrap book. Use other papers, stickers and tape to make a fun scrapbook to look back at to remember the adventure.
Learn a new skill: Everyone in the family has a go at teaching everyone else something new. It could be a skills, a game, a dance or a song.
Puzzle Time: Challenge yourselves with jigsaw puzzles of varying difficulty levels. Work together as a team to complete the puzzle. There are so many different ways we can play with puzzles as well.
Explore Museums and Exhibitions: Take a trip to local museums, art galleries, or exhibitions. Discover new things and maybe even be inspired to create your own art work when you get home.
Play dress ups: Either get into mum and dads clothes or the dress up box and create some new looks and then walk the runway.
